Nurshaun Sreedhar is currently working as a research engineer in Dr. Hassan Arafat’s research group. During his undergraduate studies, Nurshaun worked on producing biofuels from vegetable oil and algal oil and studying their properties in collaboration with the National Institute of Ocean Technology, Chennai. He also worked on using algae as adsorbers for dye removal from water. His final year project was undertaken at the Central Leather Research Institute in Chennai, India for the removal of heavy metals from industrial effluents.

Nurshaun strongly believes in developing innovative solutions to meet our growing needs for energy and water, as well as improving existing methods. At Masdar Institute, his research focusses on reducing fouling in different membrane processes by improving the hydrodynamics of the feed water through spacers.

During his free time, Nurshaun enjoys painting, reading and exploring Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
